Could some one do me a favor?
This is really basic, but are you waiting for the vertical refresh to flip your surfaces? That's the most common cause of tearing. I haven't looked at your demo yet (I'm at work), but I will when I get home and try to figure it out if that's not the reason.
Mike, try understanding the DX help and source-code examples from microsoft which come with the DX-SDK. They are very clear and helpful. Maybe in the beginning it will be hard, but once you understand, you will be able to do magic ;-)
I'm currently working on a 2D engine and on my computer I seem to be experiancing a tearring effect. I cannot figure out what the cause is. I would apriciate it if some people would goto http://mike010.hypermart.net/demo.zip and download the demo I've put there (it's only a 41.3 KB download).
I'm trying to find out if the problem is on my just my computor or not. The game uses DirectX 6 (thusly it is required) and runs in a 16 Bit window (hence, your desktop must be in 16 Bit mode, this is done for debuging purposes). Also, If you think you can solve my problem (assuming you experiance the same problem I have) email me at Mike010@netZero.net . I will send you the source code so you can take a look.
