How to generate Diablo II style random maps

I want to write something that generates maps like Diablo II. I mean they have to be random, but they also need to have a kind of order. Like the treasure has to be far away from the entry. And it should work tile based, but those tiles should have variable sizes. Any ideas how to code something like that?
