Some of you may have noticed my earlier post pushing my services as a composer of original music. A few of you have asked for quotes, which I appreciate, but the only rates I know of our pro rates. To those of you working with limtied budgets, what would you pay for, say, a 1 minute loop of music? A three minute action cue? Thanks. Greg Nicolett Composer www.gregnicolett.com

indie games = very low budget, on other forums i have read that even the more professional indie developers wont pay over 500$ for a complete soundtrack 20 / 30 mins of music.

They consider 100$ a track to be expensives and 60 / 80 $ per tracks acceptable.

People can buy catalogue music for 40 or 50$ so you need to advertise yourself as capable of really capturing the emotion of the game you are going to work on so they feel compelled to pay a little more to get original music instead of online store stuff that can be a lot cheaper.

Personally when i sell liscences for the techno / electronic stuff i create i can go as low as 20$ per tracks ( not custom music ). I can sell the same track 2 , 3 or 4 times.

You would have to advertise to indie game studios if you want to be paid more.
