What books to choose for a newbie
I have been looking for a good book for starting with C++. I have tried "Learning C++ in 21 days", but didn''t like it much. And when I look at Amazon, all the books are praised by so many people, but I don''t think every book is that great. So this is a question for those of you who have actually read several books. Which one should I start with? I have programmed Basic before, but never anything object oriented.
Thanks in advance!

I started out in a similar position as you. I wanted to learn C++, so I got the Waite''s Group: Object-Oriented Programming in C++. I started reading that for a while, and then I started getting confused, so I also got "C++ for Dummies." I read that to clarify some questions I had, then I went back to reading OOP in C++. With those two books, used in conjugtion with each other, and having no previous programming experience (except for very little basic about 5 years ago), I think I am doing a pretty good job learning C++.
