This is driving me MAD!! Please read :-)
Hi everyone...
Im having a very annoying problem :-)
Whenever I run any gl programmes from this site they run at about 1 fps...however stuff like the opengl screensavers in windows run fine, and gl tests etc all work fast too, But even Quake1 runs at 1fps!
Im sure everything used to work properly before (months back) and I was using the same set up then.
Also I no longer get the 3dfx logo load before the 3d card is used, which used to happen. Is that related?
Im using a creative 3d blaster 2 and I have an on board sis 6326 2d chip (WORST mistake of my life)...
Can anyone help me please? I''ve spent the last 2 weeks solid trying to sort this out...I''ve tried every available dirver under the sun!
PLEASE help! hehe
Thanks in advance, Adam
It sounds like either your opengl driver did not install correctly or you card does not have an ICD. In that case, you will need to find a mini driver that will work with your card.
Try stopping by the creative site, to see if there is an updated driver. Remove your current drivers completely, and then reinstall the newest driver from their site.
Sorry I couldn''t be more help.

This is what it sounds like your computer is doing: If you have onboard video and a separate video card, your computer may be getting confused. When you run a fullscreen or windowed game (and do not specify the "Blaster 2" instead of "default OpenGL") like Quake, the software goes to the first OpenGL driver it can find: the onboard video driver. This onboard video will completely gag when you try to make it do 3D. Windows, on the other hand, knows what's up and uses the Blaster 2 card when an OpenGL command is called.
I don't remember offhand if that board does 2D also. Assuming it does, here's what you need to do:
1. Make sure you have updated drivers ON A FLOPPY DISK for BOTH of your videos.
2. Disable the onboard video in the control panel. DO NOT RESTART THE COMPUTER.
3. Install the newest 3DFX drivers for the Creative board
4. Restart
5. Try your program again.
If the computer flips out, restart into safe mode and re-enable the onboard video and make another post in this thread saying what's up.
Hope this helps!

I do real things with imaginary numbers
the blaster has to run at 16bit colour also in a screensize at or less than 800x600.
best option (least heartache) if youve got the cash of course grab a nvidia tnt2/m64 or vanta. disable the onboard video card completely (dynamite) and use ther nvidia card for both 2d and 3d you''ll also get about 3x the fps with quake3 than the blaster

Hey it do the same thing for me, but in Direct3D, all the games/screensaver who work with Direct3D go smooth but when I take a code and I compille it (or take the already compiller one) it go slow!
If you do as Zedzeek said, but have about $90-110 to spend, you might want to pick up a Geforce MX (32MB ones are cheaper than the 64MB ones, of course).
