Best C Book For Beginners?
Hi guys. I''m new to this forum and i wondered if you experienced programmers could give me some suggestions. I would like to learn to program in C (as a starting point) not neccesarilly to make it a career but just for fun and to see if I can learn it well. But my problem is I''ve beee told so many different things about which books to read that I dont know where to start. So what I would like to know is which is the best book to teach C to beginners? I mean a book that teaches those that know absolutely NOTHING about programming and who have never programmed before. Which books would you recommend I start with that I can understand and that will give me a good foundation for more complex stuff later on? I would appreciate any help I can get on this matter as I dont want to waste my money on books I cant use. Thanks for the help guys!!!

You could try The C programming language. I don''t know who wrote it, but it is like a perfect reference I hear. If I am correct though it might be a little tricky to digest for a beginner, but you can ask online about anything you are confused about.

The C Programming language was written by Brian Kernighan & Dennis Ritchie. This is an excellent book for learning c from, unfortunatly there is no c++ in it though.

I got the book right infront of me, The C Programming Language by Brian W. Kernighan and Dennis M. Ritche,
its an old and small book buts its very good, you may have trouble finding this at your bookstore I got mine at Indigo.ca,

You can get it Here and if you want some C++ too. I would reccomend "The Beginners guide to C++" by Oleg Yareshenko. It is good. There are some outdated syntax problems but those can be overlooked.

Thanks for all the help guys!! A lot of people told me that book was good but then others told me it was hard to grasp for beginners but it seems as though you all agree that it''s the best one so I''ll look into getting it. Again thanks for all your help!!!
