Hey I need to install a CVS onto my web space. The server runs Red Hat. The CVS that I want to install needs to be installed via RPMs. How do you install an RPM from a remote location? I am running Windows XP Professional and using SmartFTP to manage the space. Thank you
You can't do that only using FTP. FTP the RPM onto the server, then connect via SSH and install it. Note that you cannot install RPMs without root access. If you don't have root access, you may still be able to install SSH, but you'll have to build it from source.

You could politely ask the system administrator (i'm assuming it's not you) to install it for you (as you'll need root access to install a RPM). Whether or not he/she would be willing to do it is up to them

Your other option is to shop around and find some web space that also provides CVS. Do a google search, there are some free ones out there.
