Hi, in MP3 VS. WAV I asked general stuff about what is better to use. After this I decided to use mp3 as streaming files and wavs as all other sounds. So I wanted to reconvert my sound files from mp3 to wav but they seem to be larger than they had been. I tried this with one file of Doom3 and I was right. If the Doom3 orginal file is about 25KB, so the MP3 version is about 10KB but when I reconvert the file it is suddenly around 110KB. I normally use the Creative PlayCenter to convert the files. I also tried the example above with CDEx but the result was the same. Pityworm2 Edited: fixed some spelling errors [Edited by - Pityworm2 on May 11, 2005 10:49:52 AM]
There are many options for WAV files -- like the number of bits per sample, whether it is mono or stereo, how many samples per second, and then some. These all have their influences on the sizes.

Then there are also different versions of the WAV file format (like WindowsPCM, ADPCM and some other). I'm not experienced with their internals but this may also be of influence.

Thx that seemed to fix my problem...I was reconverting them in stereo and 44100 Hz and that caused them being so big.
In another word, I figured out, how to convert them to smaller outputs, but does anybody knows how to change the bitrate in CDEx?
I just thought I'd point out in case you aren't aware, that mp3 (and ogg among others) is a lossy format; you'll lose some data if you convert from wav to mp3 then back to wav.
