Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to play mp3s (or other file formats) from within an application. Unfortunately, my research is going nowhere because every search combination I can think of generates way too many useless hits. Can anyone suggest some good key words for how best to do this research? If you're feeling charitable and have good links, those would be much appreciated as well. Thank you in advance. Crabtastic.
I just googled "mp3 decoding -wav" and "mp3 decoding algorithm" and they seemed to show some useful hits (although I didn't look *too* hard at them)
"Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.".....V

You can also just get the IEEE standards document for MPEG 1 coding; layer 3 audio is in there. Fraunhofer also has good documentation on their site.
enum Bool { True, False, FileNotFound };
Thank you very much, hplus0603 and joanusdmentia.

To emphasize my ignorance, I didn't know that "decoder" would be a good term.
