Where can I get Unix?
Where can I get Unix? If you can it would be helpful if you could give the FTP.

Last I heard Unix was copyrighted and as such an FTP for it would be quite naughty indeed.
Did you perhaps mean linux or a bsd ? .. google is your friend then.

Uhhhh... I searched Linux on google(I use it almost 24/7), anyway I have Parental Blockage, so I can't get Linux, and when I get a site, i'm not sure what to download.
That's why I asked for the FTP, but ya I want Linux, I just thought Unix was going to be easier.

Sun is a bit full of themselves, aren't they?

Solaris 10 is a powerhouse monument to human achievement. As the most advanced operating system ever built, Solaris 10 moves ahead. It sets entirely new standards of excellence and is taking the industry by storm. And with this historic Solaris 10 release comes a new logo -- a logo that captures the energy and power of this unparalleled platform. A logo that was designed and tested with disciplines and rigors that took their cue from the Solaris operating system itself. It's with great pleasure that we unveil the new Solaris logo -- the visual instantiation of the technology which has become the industry's archetype for the next decade. Solaris 10 moves ahead by orders of magnitude. And it's just the harbinger of things to come.

Unix is a specification for a whole family of (more or less compatible) operating systems. Linux is an open-source implementation of that specification, as are FreeBSD, OpenBSD ... which are available for free or at minimal cost. On the other hand AIX, Solaris... are closed-source implementation costing $$$.
There are quite a few distributions of Linux. You might want to try your hand with Knoppix (Web Page, FTP @ UFL) for a first experience: it runs entirely from CD-ROM and doesn't install anything on your hard-drive (which puts some restrictions to what it can do). Once you decide to install, have a look at Fedora (Web page, FTP @ GaTech), SuSe (Web Page, FTP @ GaTech) or Mandrake (Web Page, FTP @ UFL) - the installation process is mostly (entirely?) automated.
(If the FTL links don't work, try the web pages, I linked to the mirror pages)
Don't ask which distribution is the best, it depends on your tastes and goals, and quickly leads to flame-wars, or, at a minimum, to everybody posting their favourite distro-of-the-day without regard to the OP's level of expertise.
"Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it." — Brian W. Kernighan
