These are two anime type drawings that i have been working on.

Those look pretty good, baddogj. Like these guys say, practice. Practice makes perfect.

If you don't care to buy for a book on drawing, head on down to the library. The internet hasn't put those places out of business yet. Check out a book on drawing, you can usually find a variety of books on just drawing alone.

Keep at it!

i plan to get a book once i am able to go to the library, which i think may be this weekend. for now i am using online tutorials to help me.

if anyone has comments, or suggestions please post them.

...Unless they're critical of your work. PLEASE ONLY POST PRAISE.

Sorry kiddo, but your stuff sucks alot. I was drawing like that when I was bored in Jr Highschool, too.

The thing that makes your stuff ESPECIALLY sucky is the fact that you're trying to show it off as if its some great art, and then bouncing back relying on the excuse of "Oh, I did it because I want advise". Bullshit. Anyone could see you were trying to show off.

In anycase, like everyone else said, get a pencil, some paper, and dedicate yourself to drawing. Try not to trace. I dont know if its the scan job, or the fact that its notches better than the rest of your stuff, but I get a severe feeling that the DBZ drawing was traced. It just LOOKS traced. Dont worry, we've all done it, tho. Just dont show it off as if its your own work.

So practice, practice, practice, and then in a few years, start flaunting your 'portfolio' again.

that's pretty good... but the thing i've always had problems with is the actual outline of the face, never could get it right.

but yeah, proportions is probably the biggest improvement you need in your drawings. other than that, not bad.

Beginner in Game Development?  Read here. And read here.

Yah, those are good, in fact a lot better than your previous postings. The proportions are just off though, but you'll get that in time.

And you can use any paper that you want really. Any paper that a pencil will draw on. [smile]

For example, I draw a lot in class:

You see, I sketched this up in a ~20 minutes (I'm a bit rusty) on crappy old scribbler paper. [it's a work in progress, and he has large metal plating under his coat, thus the large shoulder width]

So yah, just pick a style you really like, and stick with it. Or even, create your own.

I was really into anime when I was in my early teens (or at least the art style), but now I prefer the west style (north american) to japanese manga/anime style. It's all in preference. I'm saying this because, if I were to draw anime, I wouldn't entirely enjoy it as much if I were to draw in another desired style. So basically, draw in whatever style pleases you the most, so that you'll be motivated to do draw more.

Try to draw something every night, and don't get discouraged - but don't get cocky either. Don't be afraid to pick out what's wrong with your drawings, that's a valuable asset, but don't analyze them to death either. Just draw something, be proud of it, say "well this and this could be improved", and move on.

Good luck to you. [smile]

You know, even though your post was a bit harsh (and for once I didn't want to be, wow), it holds a lot of truth to it.

rating++;

thanks for the comments(excluding some), i not real experienced with drawing and haven't read any books on drawing faces. all of these are quick sketches that i would do during my classes in school. does anyone know of any sites that teach how to draw faces?

Sorry if I hurt your feelings cupcake, but this is a site dedicated to game development, and its related fields and subjects. It's not a hangout for junior high kids who discovered paint while surfing AOL with parental lock on.

I'm not even going to bother commenting on that crap, because it blows so much ass I cant bear to look at it without wanting to tear out my own eyes and shit on my face.

To elaborate further, ding ding, here comes the shitmobile.

These are going in my ultimate post scrapbook (ratings ++). I agree his art sucks, it's a waste of bandwidth, I'm glad it's not mine.

baddogj, even if your art is not that spectacular, and even if people criticise you as harshly as they do, I encourage you to keep drawing. The old saying "practice makes perfect" applies to drawing too, you know. It might be a long road but when your art start to really look good, praises will feel that much better because of the bad criticism in the beginning.

If drawing is what you want to do, it's really important for you to get your hands on some drawing books and/or tutorials. There is some great material out there on how to draw anatomically correct figures. This forum has a stickified thread that's full of links to good tutorials - I recommend you check them out. Also here are some good links, although some of them are broken.
