I totally agree with Wav. I must have gotten influenced by the other replies (it's a subconscious thing you know :p ) so my reply sounded like I was telling you to dumb down your project. Actually, I got really excited that at least you were trying and you seem like you know what you're doing. But the math and physics for a really free-form house building interface, specially when considering the implications of testing its stability, are just too complex for this kind of project. There are a few alternatives that sacrifice the ability to build more exotic things but should still make 99% of the interested players happy: the approach I suggested, using a group of floors and representing each one using 2D tiles; and using vector maps instead of 2D tiles like in DOOM. I really think you should at least consider these 2, even if just for the fact that a system like this is much easier to understand for most people than something a bit more like CAD! So there, my 2 cents :)
I've seen this "attitude problem" many times before in this forum, and some of them in my threads. If something sounds just a bit too ambitious, everyone thinks the poster is newbish. This happens because some people are not always able to explain themselves correctly, which happens to be my case. English is not my native language so I don't exactly type as the ideas flow from my head. Even if a post of mine has the greatest idea ever, I manage to write it in the worst way possible :) Oh well... just try to be a bit more tolerant next time.
