Too 3d or not 3d
I am working on game that takes place in an office building. What I am wondering is what people find more attractive when it comes to game play. I am tempted to make this a first person game but I was thinking making it more 3rd person style. Maybe have it set up like the old serria games were with the point and click walk around action. The advantage to this is that the graphics could be very high rez and fully rendered. If it is first person then I am restricted to low poly counts and small textures. What do you find more enjoyable playing?

Huh? Maybe I'm missing something here...
Whatever. I'd personally go for the first person, simply because I'm no modeller, and making a person for the 3rd person would be a daunting task.
Nonetheless, I personally find 3rd person games (albeit, if the artwork is good) to be far more impressive. I guess it all depends on what exactly you want to accomplish.
Well, I guess you could decide by the story of the game. If the story is too complex, then an adventure game will be better. If the game story is just like zombies invading the city, then go for the shooter.
I know my English sucks, so please I only ask for some patience. :)
Games are about actions, not visuals.
Visuals are just the tools to express the actions; fun and enjoyability are side effects to that, in the end.
So it's about what works best, not what people prefer more. If the game is BETTER in first person, then make it first person. If it works better as a 2d top scroller, make it a 2d top scroller.
