How do I get the CDROM working?

I just installed debian sarge with the default kernel 2.6.7, and I am not sure how to get the cdrom working. Here is the fstab /dev/hdb /media/cdrom iso9660 ro,user,noauto 0 0 /dev/hdb /media/cdrom0 iso9660 ro,user,noauto 0 0 /dev/hda /media/cdrom1 iso9660 ro,user,noauto 0 0 /dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto rw,user,noauto 0 0 /dev/hdb /cdrom iso9660 ro,user,noauto 0 0 I don't know why it made all these other cdroms because I only have 2, a dvd rom and a cdrw. So, the DVD and the CDRW go into one group called cdrom? I would think they would be in different groups so that when I insert the device /dev/cdrom into KsCD it knows which one I want it to play.

group cdrom is only permissions, it has nothing to do with anything else. your user has permission to access any file in the group 'cdrom,' so you put thsoe optical disk drives into that group.
