vc++ 5.0 hell
Hi,
I just got given an old copy of Visual C++ version 5.0
and I am having a hell of a time getting it to compile
code that works fine with VC++ 6.0 which I use at work.
Some of these programs include some of the Win98 API
eg. AlphaBlend() etc. so I know that I need new header
files and libs.
I''ve heard that v5.0 is notoriously unstable - is that
true?
Can anybody tell me what it will take to get VC++ 5.0
running properly? Do I need to download the latest
Win32SDK? (204 MB !!!) What about service packs?
Thanks for your help

Service Pack 3 for Visual Studio 97 should help.

no I''ve never had 5.0 crash on... heh HAY a MS product thats actualy stable... wow never thought I''d see the day that happend =)... ummm I think the problem version was 4.0 or something... I can''t remember I dl the DDK for 98 and it was saying something about which version it would work with and I think it said that 4 was unstable and that 6.0 had a bug that wouldn''t let it make vxds or something...
