Just thought I would throw in a comment:
If schools in Australia have 12 grades like they do in the US, then I think something is wrong. I am in grade 10 and we learned trig last year and are working on matricies now. Are you in one of (the most?) advanced math classes at your school? I am only in Advanced Alg X (whereas quite a few of my classmates are in Pre-Calc)
