Prodigium Animation
Wow... its been about a year since I''ve been in this forum. I used to be a regular, anyone remember me?
Well back then I was working on an animation that I promised to show people here when it was finished... Well, its been finished since september and I never showed it. So... I finally have it uploaded and compressed down to show.
A little background... I''m at Indiana University doing a triple major in Studio Art, Art history, and Telecommunications- NOT the greatest place to be doing 3d animation! However, I pulled two friends together and after 6 months of work we finally finished this animation. It won critic''s choice for IU Film Fest (the only animation in the competition - and picked by the chief editor for American Cinematographer), 3d gesture at IDEAS fest, and best graphics animation at Multivisions. Of course, these are local festivals that don''t really garnish that much competition.
While I''m not planning on entering this in more festivals (truthfully, I''m tired of looking at it) I''m curious to hear from those of you who HAVE been to festivals like these, how a piece like this would be received?
No need to point out a few of the funny flaws (trust me, I know about them).
Any how, here''s the link: https://www.slashtmp.iu.edu/public/download.php?FILE=twmurphy/228290IYZ04
(BTW, it was rendered for high definition, I''m sorry for the cruddiness of the compression. Its about a 15 meg download)
Constructive criticism is more than encouraged. Also, any people remember me??

Hey that was a sweet movie. From the way it started out I was surprized to see it become so happy-like. That happy blob thing is funny. That wizard guy seemed quite annoyed.
I like the music, and the voice acting was good. But the sound effects of the blob were just bothersome.
The whole movie is very good. I do remember seeing you here on gamedev in the past. You should post more often, not too many artists on these forums and more people couldnt hurt.

Yeah, the "switch" was the main point... set it up as overtly cliche. (AIing intro 3d and my experience in game developement... the D&D type theme is overdone, so I wanted to make a play on that expectation). Sorry about the audio, I admit, its the weakest. The person originally supposed to do the audio wound up getting to caught up in his finals to do the audio by the due date... So I wound up doing it. There''s a grad student wanting to re-do our audio for us, so if we decide to enter it anywhere new (and we probably won''t) we''ll have him redo the audio first.
