Don't have MSVC++? Click here!
That's it! I'm sick and tired of reading posts where people are asking where to get a free win32 compiler or are trying to figure out how to compile DirectX programs with DJGPP. Have you even tried looking on the internet? You see, there's this little company known as inprise (Borland). Way back, they used to produce top-of-the-line compilers that couldn't be beaten. They were the best. This great company still exists, you know.
Hmm, looking for a compiler? Maybe you should look at the websites of some of the companies that produce them. One day, a long time ago, I accidentally clicked on a banner that lead me to inprise.com. Somehow, I couldn't escape their large, flashing advertisements for their FREE WIN32 C++ COMPILER. Then I said to myself, "hey, doesn't Inprise have something to do with Borland?" I clicked on their FREE WIN32 C++ COMPILER link and I was directed to a nice, colorful page advertising this: DOWNLOAD THE FREE BORLAND C++ COMPILER 5.5.
I lived happily with that FREE WIN32 C++ COMPILER for months before I bought Visual C++. I even managed to get both DirectX and OpenGL to work with it. Am I the only person on Earth who knows about this? Borland is Microsoft's only real competition, and they've released their C++ compiler (and more recently, their debugger) for free!
Got an internet connect? Then you've got free access to Borland C++ Compiler 5.5. I honestly don't understand why poeple still waste their time on little wussy things like Dev-C++, DJGPP, and lcc-win32. For the love of God, please think about this! BORLAND. Let me spell that out for you: B-O-R-L-A-N-D. BORLAND! Once again, Borland. Why are you still considering Dev-C++ or DJGPP with RSXNTDJ? It's Borland we're talking about. Borland. You know, the company that owned C++ programmers before Visual C++. And yet again, BORLAND!
I've been posting on these forums for a while now, and it seems that these horrible questions are asked pretty much daily.
"Where can I get a free Win32 compiler?"
"Can I get msvc for free?"
"How do I compile windows programs with djgpp?"
"What the hell is rsxntdj?"
"Where am I?"
"Why doesn't directx compile with djgpp?"
"Who am I?"
The answer.
Do I prefer Borland? Hell, no. I bought MSVC++, and it's worth 10 times what I paid for it. But there was a period of time when I was forced to use Borland. It wasn't so bad. And it beat the hell out of DJGPP, Dev-C++, and lcc-win32. Once again, it's Borland.
If anyone, and I mean anyone, asks where to get a free Win32 C++ compiler, I'll flame you so bad that I'll expect to be banned from these forums forever.

Where can I get a free windows compiler?
Anyway, Dev-C++ beats the hell out of the borland compiler and lcc-win32 beats the hell out of Dev-C++.

users be warned that this free compiler doesnt come with an IDE. It is command line. Use it out of a DOS box.
