I think it''s very sad that all you can do is point to Allegro in this situation. Nobody mentioned DirectX, OpenGL*, or even the Win32 GDI functions. Hell, it wouldn''t even be that hard to load and display a 256 color bitmap in DOS. Sure, he said he wanted the easiest way to do this, but the easiest way is almost never the best way.
