my game for acoders competition
Ive decided to try out for this competition for the hell of it, taking time off from developing my actor sim to develop a Time travelling tycoon game for the competition.. You run a tourist attraction where you sell time travel to customers, research allows you to include different time periods.
Im just curious as to what you guys think or would like included with this game, remembering its only under 4 months to develop. Ive taken alot of short cuts, minimized customer movement AI/Animation by purchasing rooms instead of dragging walls out, not allowing benches/items to be placed anywhere... Im just stuck with what to include in this game, Ive got a training room, research room, waiting room, reception and the time machine room. Maybe this is enough to allow polishing of the game? is customer walking animation important for you and should I spend time programming/drawing it in?
Im not expecting to win or even place, its for the hell of it and to release a game which will improve my current project.
Take it serious, make a good game, maybe a 3rd person shooter like Metal Gear Solid, that would be a definet win!
3rd person? BAH! Make it like Roller coaster tycoon, or Sim-theme park! You could slowly build up your ''time travel park'', and each time you make a new ''time period'' you can build on that too, like making a new level.
how bout this.. you make a game that allows you to time travel and you play the role of a guy that sells time travel machines and technology and stuff.. very high tech place? .. smth like that :D..
I think maybe just a simple animation will be ok for talking like 3 animation since art is not as important for the game but if you don''t have time to do animation then so be it since the contest relies heavily on how well you use the theme of time.
I agree, don’t enter if you don’t expect that you will win, but maybe others don’t have a good idea and your idea will be better than the rest.
I think it’s kind of original but I don''t know about fun but I have to wait and see in 4 months when they show the games.
I think the game Prince of person sands of time has a good concept of time manipulation.
I think my idea can win first place but I didn’t ask for any programmers since most can’t code within that time frame. I know I can win if I enter and the game is made how I want it to be. Personally I prefer it to be a 2D platform action game while adding elements of POP and many more time issues but that would be too much with the limited time since programmers have no time.

Im taking it serious, but like I said I doubt it will win. I don''t know 3d and I''m only a single person. Spreading music/sound effects/graphics/programming and design over a four month period with my studies and job doesn''t scream first prize to me. But I am taking it as serious as I can, a 3rd person game is out of my league as I have yet to venture into the 3d realm, but Im not ashamed of this
Plus all aspects of the game submitted has to be orginal! (Programmer graphics look out!)
FlamingBoi, Its very simular to that idea, but instead of sell the seperate time machines the customers go in and choose their time destination, a travel agent follows them through the time machine to ensure they dont mess with time, and to add an extra staff member to the game![](tongue.gif)
Thanks for the suggestion Warsong and others. anyone else working on a game for this comp??
