Space empire AI for RPG game?
Hi guys. I''m working on a science fiction RPG and I''m looking for advice in designing AI for space empires. I''d like the empires to interact as they would in games like Civilization or Master of Orion. Unfortunately, I can''t afford to devote as many system resources as those games do to their empire AI.
The end goal is to end up with a game map where empires change and expand over time. As they come into contact with each other they interact (fighting, trading, etc.); they interact with the player as well.
As a starter, I''ve mapped out a number of things the empires can do, such as declare war, colonize new worlds, move navies, etc. I''m in the process of figuring out how this stuff gets resolved, as well. I''m wondering if I''m on the right path and, if so, what comes next. Advice?
