Game development studio
Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I am currently looking for a game studio, which will not cost the earth. I know you should learn C++ and do it the correct way but I am not clever enough with math to be able to take care of the 3d engine (and believe me, I have a huge amount of respect for you guys who can do it). I want to find a system where I can script each object and build the system with editors, like the Conitec A4. But before I make a purchase, I want to know if the A4 is the best that I can get for $1250. I would like to keep the license cost for the game studio (if possible) to below $3000 as I will only be writing shareware Internet multiplayer games.
If anyone can give me links to company web pages, I will be forever grateful.

Okay, so let me get this straight... you have roughly $3000 to spend on making a game. By this, I can assume that you are past high school unless you have one hell of an allowance.
It doesn''t take a brilliant, brilliant person to figure out programming, not even 3D programming, believe it or not. Most of the people here haven''t even graduated high school yet, and they are tackling unimaginably complicated things... hell, I''m not even IN high school yet (going in next year), and I''m tackling DirectX and 2D games right now as is.. I''ll be tackling 3D soon enough.
... and you want to write shareware internet multiplayer games? You don''t need $3000 to do it.. if *YOU* want to do the design of the engine and stuff, you''d be better off spending a tenth of that buying a nice compiler and some good books.
You could have a $0 budget and make a shareware 3D multiplayer game over the internet. It would take some good links, and the time, (and maybe a few friends who want to help out) but it could be done.
I don''t mean to be cruel or anything, I just think that you are a lot more capable than you think. If you don''t care to do any of the coding, and just the basic design of the game, I''m sure there are hundreds of people crawling on these boards who would easily be willing to make you a multiplayer 3D internet game if you shoved several thousand dollars in their face.
I dunno, I''ve never really heard of a game studio, though... not sure quite what you mean by that, anyway.. heh

$1250????? what the hell? trust me... don''t buy it... I wouldn''t pay anything close to that if I was you... most I''d pay for something like that is $50 and it would real have to be a damn good one... trust me you can write a multiplayer 3D game for the internet... its going to take some time to do it... your going to have to start small and work you way up... but its going to be the same as using Contic or what ever... it takes time to learn them... and your probably not going to get to far away from the math anyways... so seriously buy a compiler and some books...
I use
MS Visaul C++ (Windows)
DJGPP (Dos) (free good starting point)
GCC (linux)... =P
for compliers
and a few good book would be
"Absolute Beginner''s Guide to C" Greg Perry ISBN 0-672-30510-0
"Teach yourself... C++" Al Stevens ISBN 1-55828-406-0
"Windows Game Programming For Dummies" Andre LaMothe ISBN 0-7645-0337-5
"Inside Direct X" Bradly Bargen and Peter Donnelly ISBN 1-57231-696-9
"Building A 3d Game Engine In C++" Brain Hook ISBN 0-471-12326-9
these are the books that I used to learn from... C++ was based on C and all C++ book assume that you already know C... I sugest reading them in the order I''ve listed them in... yea its a lot of reading, but trust me... its realy worth it...
I''ve used afew progams that there only porpes in life was to make game programming easy... trust me... you only get out what you put in... Game generaters realy don''t look good... and you get alot more saticfaction out of saying yea I wrote the whole thing from scratch verses I used a program that made it for me...
if you want to use a generator to make games at first then move into more advanced stuff then go head... but don''t spend 3grand on one... heh for that price I would consider making the game for you =P
