Leveling up...
Well, typically, I''m wondering about the way most games have the players level up in rpgs and so. Like the traditional experience points and learning new techniques on each level or something that let''s you customize to your abilities or something. I''m asking if maybe somebody knows what kind I can use for leveling up or gaining experience in a mmorpg.

When you increase by one level, there''s generally two types of improvement: automatic improvement, like gaining a fixed number of HP; and choice driven improvement where the user gets given a number of points to distribute among a finite set of abilities.

Why are you asking other people how you should design your game? Do what you think is fun. Personally I think the slow advancement of Everquest et al is not fun. I would rather have two forms of level progression -- one that''s slow and that lets you alter your core attributes (health, strength, etc.) or special abilities, and another one that''s much more frequent that lets you allocate skill points.
