I am currently finishing a game that I made in DirectX and am going to put screenshots of it on my web page. But, when ever I run the game and hit button, and then paste that to a paint program (such as the usual Paint in windows) i just get a black screen with a few purple and red dots. Any suggestions...
I''ve had this problem before also. After you paste the image, move the selection a bit to the side and the release it. For some reason, when you paste something that is at a different size then it originally was (if you resolution in the program is less than you regular resolution), it won''t redraw the image until you move it a bit. If that still doesn''t work, try getting a demo of Paint Shop Pro (www.jasc.com) and use the screen capture option. I look forward to seeing some screen shots from your game and I hope what I said helps.

Its because you are using 8-bit mode i think. Go to control panel and run the directx setup program. Theres an option in there under directdraw that allows you to take screen shots using PrintScreen from 8-bit surfaces.
