Jeopardy Timing
For computer science class, I''m making a replica of Jeopardy. I''m wondering if anybody here knows how long the timings for the following things are: round 1 and 2 length, time before stopping question if nobody answers, and time you have to answer if you buzz in. I think time before stopping is 3 seconds, but I''m not sure. Please help.

Good lord, just record the show and time it. You could always go to their site and e-mail them. They even have forums.

gsgraham.comSo, no, zebras are not causing hurricanes.
Don''t tell me you can''t sing it verbatim and handle a stop watch at the same time. Try it in front of your girlfriend. It will get her so hot.

i''m pretty sure the "Final Jeopardy" countdown is 30 seconds, or maybe a minute. No, it''s definitely 30 seconds. As to the round lengths, eight or ten minutes seems about right, if you factor in the goofy interviews, the commercials, and Final Jeopardy.
I''m sure the data is somewhere on the web site.

OT but related - I once went into the studios to take the Jeopardy contestant testing. Alex Trebec came up on this big screen and walked us all through the qualifications. Did you know that the average Jeopardy contestant has a minimum of a Masters degree and 80 % of the time a Phd? The average winner of the contestant testing is the person who has ten to fifteen years experience, besides the education, in the subject they choose for testing that day. The subject my day was Art and Literature, and I thought I would score huge, given my education and background. I was such a loser. There. A loser there.

Seriously, I always wonder how in the heck they could answer all those questions. There are so many subjects, so many weird and detailed questions. It seems these people know everything.

Then they even have teen Jeopardy!
I generally do pretty well with the kiddie version, and now and again I''ll luck out on the categories. More than once I''ve done better than the guy that wound up winning, but I wasn''t dealing with things like getting the buzzer on time, losing money for wrong answers (I try them all, but I doubt I''d buzz in every time), and missing Daily Doubles. I''m sure there''s at least one game of Jeopardy a year that I could have won, hands down. But most of the time I''m totally screwed. Ballet? What kind of stupid category is ballet? Lousy Jeopardy. Alec Trebek sucks, and he should have kept the ''stache. It was swingin''.
