Beat Detection Article

I''m mainly posting here as I found the article www.gamedev.net/reference/programming/features/beatdetection/ thru gamedev. I''m not exactly sure whether this question is best posed in this forum or maybe a programming one so maybe someone might move it? I''ve been trying to implement a comb filter following this article and as far as I can tell I''ve done it as it described it. My problem is that my energy values kinda increase in steps every 20 bpm so that thought you might be able to see a peak where one should be but another step will be higher than this. Just wondering if anyone else has any knowledge in this area and might be able to think of what I''m doing wrong. I can post code and graphs of results if that might be helpful. Thanks in advance
