Here's a piece I finished fairly quickly, but I like it. I went with a cel-shaded look for it, which I like because it's easy to prototype ideas (not to mention it compensates for my poor "realistic" art skills ) Before anyone asks, I used an actual photo as the base, traced the outlines and key details with black, before coloring. It's a style I kind of like, and I think it will help be draw better after awhile too. It''s done pretty well. I would suggest trying to use thick lines on the overlapping body parts, not just the outline. That could help pop out some of the forms. It would also be nice if the lines were a bit smooter. The pixels are a bit to obvious right now.

If you mean that tracing will help you out with drawing after awhile, I''m a bit skeptical. The most it will show you is how to see lines as they are, but there are other ways that I think are better.

mtw: Good points. I should have used a vector drawing program in hindsight, but I didn't. I used a primitive "smudge the edges" nethod following your suggestion. I outlined the arms with a thick line, and finally, I masked part of the "background" of the image (ie: legs / crotch area) with black to bring out the arms into the foreground more. I also added shadow for flavor. Thoughts?

You can put anything you like on your own t-shirt, so long as you aren''t making a quantity for sale. I mean, you''re essentially showing how much of a fan you are and acting as a free walking billboard for the franchise; how could they possibly prosecute you?

IANAL. Nevertheless, there are dozens of fan groups who engage in such things - fan fiction, fan art, etc - with no legal repercussions. YMMV.

Looks quite better now. Hopefully the screen press can get the colors well.

I figured as much though with fanart and fan fiction, no money is exchanging hands; in this case, I would be paying the copy place to print me a copyrighted design. I mean, it''s not like I''d be entering a mass production order or reselling the shirt, I just want one myself. And, you''re right, I would in a sense be advertising for them. We''ll see how it goes.
