just want to share... found at sourceforge.net a new fork project of apple openplay game network library http://sourceforge.net/projects/openplay seem quite nice that someone attempted a fork as openplay is from one hand is mature library from another hand needs some improvements esp on linux front ( though I have heard Linux game publishing had some patches which bring openplay to be equal or even better than directplay and also that there were other patches as well..) and seems apple is reluctant t add features/patches to their cvs. and what is more important for ex for me is that this library is possible to use in commercial projects with closed source and static link ( under apple license). so now adding multiplatform windows/linux/apple network features to games seems quite a feasible task ( just I wait for all existing patches being gathered in one place..) for those at windows the extractor of provided downloads is http://www.stuffit.com/win/index.html see for section --> StuffIt Expander - FREE Expansion and Decoding Only so take a look - and maybe participate . Hope soon openplay will finally rock
BTW the mailing list for the project is still on apple but there you can find discussion on a newly sourceforge based project as well...
