Hi, I''m a beginner in composing, and I was wondering what freeware program to make MIDI music you could recommend. It just has to do basic stuff, so nothing fancy is necessary. Thanks!

I think the Direct Music Producer - which can be downloaded free from Microsoft as an additional tool to the DirectX SDK - can handle Midi files.

It might be free, but I wouldn''t say it was for a beginner :D

Definitely not for beginners.

My Music((a small portion anyways))
*very* basic?? is bram bos' "tuareg" still around? anything beyond that, i'd highly suggest spending a few hours to get your head around the concepts of midi and vst plugins, and use "inwire" or another vst host (try search at kvr-vst.com)

..or if you do only want midi, emagic's "fun" v. of logic (afaik only on the german lang site)

hey
I''ve found a little program called anvil studio, that is freeware and lets you compose midi quite comfortably - not as good as logic audio, of course, but it works.
I''ve put it on my homepage - you can download it there if you want:

there are some more free programs on the web, but I haven''t tried them...

If you can afford to spend some money, get CakeWalk.

It is probably best for beginers, but it''s powerful too.

Look up Anvil Studio, it''s a shareware MIDI composing program.
