I''m trying to get RH 9 to work but I''m having problems with my AsusTek/Broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated ethernet card. From Googling and from reading post after post on various Linux foras it seems I need to compile the driver source and then use insmod to insert the module (talk about a steep learning curve ). My question is this: Do I need the kernel source for this or is the driver source enough?
I really hope I don''t have to dl three cd''s of source code to get a bloody ethernet card working!!! Arghhh....(good thing I still have XP on this box )

Yes, you need teh kernel source. The kernel source isn''t 3 CDs, it''s just one rpm file. It should be available on your installation CD. If you don''t have the CD, just go to the red hat ftp server and download the package you need.
OK, thanks.
I actually succeded in compiling the driver and insert the module (insmod) - now I just need to set correct parameters for the ethernet card so I can go on the net with Linux.
