How do you install GNOME 2.4?

Hmm, I did all of this, but it still wont work. I have the programs it needs, the gnome-session script. I typed int all the code into the terminal. What do i do after that? did i miss something?

Did you edit your ~/.xsession file to execute your garnome-session script and then log in through GDM with the session set to Xsession like the instructions say to?

If you start X with the startx command you should launch this in ~/.xinitrc. If you use the Xsession menu choice in GDM, you should launch this in ~/.xsession. Assuming the garnome-session script is in your path, both files should look like this:

#!/bin/sh
exec garnome-session

so is it saying to make another script?
Did you try emerge gnome ?
I''m using Redhat..
