C# - Why?
Microsoft claim that the C# - language will have the high-productivity of Visual Basic, and the low-level capabilities of C.
What Microsoft doesn''t mention, is that such development tools already exist.
I call them Borland C++ Builder, and Borland Delphi.
So why C# then? Here''s why: Killing off Borland.
I believe Mr. BICEPS is beginning to understand the basic concepts of business.
Don''t forget about forcing Windows only down developers throats...and to hurt Sun because MS can''t do anything with Java (yeah, so they made Java to hurt MS). Sounds very crappy, though. I don''t care about the ease of VB, I care about speed!!! I have yet to find a language faster than C/C++, except ASM of course. Many people might not be that way, but still most developers want to have the option for cross platform compatibility without completely reprogramming the program, don''t they?
My 2 cents on it,

Retail programmers are a very small part of the market...
Think of all the banks and insurance companies and health agencies... this language wasn''t meant for systems or realtime programmers. It was meant as a weapon against Java, and is going to be quite effective at it. Remember, for those humongous markets speed is going to be important enough to look at this language in place of Visual Basic but yet developer efficiency will be a strong enough factor to abandon C++, especially when the language claims to allow people to write C++ without leaving the environment. That might be dangerous, of course, if you don''t know what you are doing.
