MMOG in P2P> what about??
i was using some P2P program when i ask myself > why not a game like this?? it will be free and there is no server to maintain
the fact is that to prevent cheating it''s bad....
well we can let a test by neighbourg connected program to test validity of information, but what about store information which can be disrupted?? we can use a gameplay which doesn''t need this, etc...
well th fact is the P2P stuff lead to rethink the design, what do u think of thi matter, how do you see a game like this??
are u interrested about this?

The idea has been thrown around before, but IIRC there are plenty of technical problems with it.
-Who will keep track of characters? Self-stored characters are a bad idea, as Diablo showed.
-How will it function? I can''t think of a way to make a MMO P2P game. Something server-based, like Counterstrike or Age of Empire, is possible to do, but those aren''t MMO.
-What''s to prevent the game itself from being fired over a P2P network? Assuming it isn''t free.
-How will you deal with the legions of angry, bloodthirsty people who have l33t haxx0rz find their IP somehow through your software and cause trouble?

well, it''s the matter expose here, HOW could we think in term of MMOG in P2P
i think it will lead to a new genre and new gameplay, whith different issue
it will be maybe some completly different of what we know because kind of existing gameplay don''t match to the problem
i was thinking of a game base on the "The Complexity of Cooperation", by Axelrod
It goes into various multi-person models of the Prisoner''s Dilemma.
the player will be connect to a small amount of person which are connected to other people (like a the net in fact) with the possibility to cooperate or betray or give up (new connection) in order to maximize point in a party (there is no cheating because the game is about cheating)
something more in depth like that
