Being an artist I first got a copy of Adobe Photoshop. Yes, it was a pirated copy from a friend. Why didn''t I go with Gimp, or something else? Simple. Because Adobe is the industry standard in the art field of employment.

After learning Photoshop I heard that Illustrator was the other one that companies used for their work. I went and BOUGHT a copy of Illustrator and taught myself that also.

After learning Illustrator I figured my next logical step was a 3D program. I DID download the free version of Maya. After I learned the basics I saved the money and bought it.

Needless to say the new version of Photoshop came out and I BOUGHT it. It all started with one copy of pirated software (YEARS ago).

Sometimes you can''t use different cheaper programs. Sometimes you can. But why train yourself in a program when that''s not what the "Standard" is?

No, I''m not saying piracy is good ( I was a kid, didn''t know any better ). Just replying to the post that says, "Why not use a different program".
