Those really aren't logos those are just Text on Pictures and the first too are very sinister... if there was flames or something like that behind it that would be cool..

To make it more logo like I'd make Sinister in the large font you have and then worlds in a smaller, different font and have it overlap the sinister.. and then I'd take the corners off the background so it doesn't look so square

***EDIT**** I had to right click get the url and surf to it

Yeah all I get is the "You do not have access to this document."

Usually when you get that kind of feedback it just means that the previous site you were on has to be on the same domain as the file you are trying to get. This prevents servers from throwing bandwidth out the window because someone is hotlinking pictures.

Anyway, those don't really look like logos as they do nifty text on top of random pictures. You want to symbolize something when making a logo. For example, with the word sinister as part of the name, I might expect black flames, a more curved text, and maybe a little blood or a full moon. You get the idea. Also, you might want to search the web for some free logo-making/drawing software. A lot of packages have at least some capacity for pre-programed effects (with changable parameters) and some unusual artistic fonts to try out.

Well, I''m certainly going to agree with everyone else that those really aren''t ''logos'', per se, but cool text on cool backgrounds.

One easy change. Your jpgs look like crap. The second and third images... they have the lovely compressed jpg look that you get. So either reduce the compression, save them as gifs or just fiddle with your colors.

Okay. Here's my lovely 10-second logo example.

not good, but is more of a logo and not jpeggish.

I seem to remeber you using the same example when I was learning how to design logos.

Good times.

ON TOPIC:

Those are not really logos per-se but it's a start...kind of... Those are really more website banners (titles) than logos.

I find a good practice technique for logo design is doing it without using any text whatsoever. Once you've got a base that you're really happy with, stick in some text, and play around with it.

Otherwise all you're going to pump out is shitty text on top of shitty pictures. :/

Good luck.

Oops! I actually meant banners for the site, y''know that stuff on the top like the GameDev.net pic at the top-left of the page right now hehe! Damn! I''m dumb! lol

Thanks for the comments anyways

Nothing is Impossible
Yeah, though they look interesting, they are just a sci-fi font on top of what look to be leaves. The bottom one is actually a bit boring. I''m not saying they look bad, but a little more creativity could go a long ways. I agree with Raymondo in that try using no text while designing an actual logo. The pen tool is our friend. From there you can modify it or just add some text to make your web site banner. I''m also thinking that the first two would look very messy as a web banner because (IMHO) the background of the banner should either be transparent or blend into the background of the web page. Just having a colorful box ontop of even a solid color background usually looks quite unprofessional.
