Anybody here like to test my squad based strategy game?
Necrotech Warfare is a turn based strategy game played from the first person. It puts you into the role of each of your soldiers - you see exactly what they can see - for a unique tactical game play experience.

I''d really appreciate some feedback on my web site if possible, thanks!

kingy,
i just downloaded you game... waited 5mins for the level to load
only to be completely lost in the game. I was unsure of what to do and where to go, and i walked straight through that over size lady.
The game looks alright but needs work. The loading really needs to be sped up, and you should get rid of that shooting noise. I dont like the idea of loosing action points for turning around to.
I liked the GUI though.
Maybe it wasnt my style of game.

5 minutes for a level to load... what spec is your PC?
On my 1.7 Celeron it takes about 20 seconds to load.
"The over size lady" is one of your own soldiers. The game will allow you to move through your own units as long as you do not leave both units on the same location.
The scenario descriptions tell you what to do. In all cases, the aim is to find the enemy and destroy them.
I think, based on your comments, I should create an additional mission briefing screen to help with the confusion.

Cool. It loads 20 sec''s on 1.2 Ghz.
I hate the movement, the interface, everything.
I think you should really redesign the GUI.

I would definitely agree about some redesigning. There''s just no addiction factor whatsoever right now. Its basically just wander around until you see an alien thing, attack with whatever weapon you have until it dies and repeat... now repeat that with all 6 of your characters until all of your mobility is used up.. click end turn and let the enemy do the same thing. Repeat ad infinitum.
I was also slightly disturbed by the sounds made by the monsters during the scene where I am waiting for their turn to finish. It sounds as though an inhuman zombie is masturbating. Its kind of funny but then it got boring listening to the zombie get off for the fifth time in as many minutes.
Add some gameplay! Make it fun. A good test of a game is always: Would you, yourself, like to play it for hours on end? I think you would shoot yourself if forced to play the game for more than two hours. Try to make the game fun. Its an interesting idea mixing turn based strategy and fps, but its just not fun right now!

Im sorry to hear that everyone has had a bad experience with my game and one of you thought that the sound effects were like "zombies masturbating". An amusing thought perhaps, but dispiriting criticisms all the same.

I like my game and enjoy playing it, its refreshing, unique and challenging to win
Any suggestions for how I should "redesign the GUI", or "add some gameplay"?

Huh I can''t believe that some comments are so harsh! I think those people are frustrated because they''ll never be able to do half of what you did with NecroTech.
I love the gameplay, kinda like a 3D ufo. I just agree with the fact that turning around shouldn''t make you loose time points.
The sound of "inhuman turn" is really scary, I just love it...
Keep up the great work

Darkhaven Beta-test stage coming soon.
Thank you!

UFO is one of my inspirations. I might actually do a remake of it towards the end of this year when NW is complete.
About turning and action points - all the turn based strategy games do this, including UFO. I might add a "mouse look" feature which would let you look around for free but you would still face the same way, so your view would kind of "bounce back". Is this a good idea?

No. Having to take the time to see who''s behind you is part of the fun. In Laser Squad I used to walk some groups back to back to make sure they didn''t get ambushed.
