How about you add a list of all the monsters you need, and you pay by monster. Like $5 per monster.

5$ .. is that for a monster design, or a complete colored picture? and maybe u should get more then one artist, 40 pictures is a huge task! could take months upon months to get it finished

Maaaaaaaahahaha. Who''s da king baby?
I agree, 40 monsters is massive, not worth $100 at all. Many pixel artists spend hours upon hours on just one image. $5 for each monster would be like $1.50/hour, not really worth it. $21 per monster is actually a lot more reasonable (equal to about $7/hr), it may seem like a lot but considering many artists would spend up to 120 hours on the whole job, it is very reasonable. Depending on the quality that you want, you could shoot for more or less. Anyways, what exactly is this for, that would probably help a lot of people.

Would be much better if you did have a list of names or short descriptions. Otherwise theres going to be a lot of reworking done. I suggest you post a few types or descriptions and have potential artists submit their conception of one or two from the list. Then base whether or not to hire them off those sample pics.
