Aston desktop manager
Some guy posted on the Lounge forum a screenshot of his desktop, take a look at it:

*Beautiful*, huh? It''s a Windows running with Aston (a desktop manager...).
Is there anything as beautiful as that for Linux?

It looks a lot like enlightenment with anti-aliased fonts (which, in all fairness, are a bit hard to get set up properly).

May I suggest Themes.org? You''ll find skins and themes for several X Windows window managers, from KDE to WindowMaker to AfterSTEP to GNOME to Blackbox. Aston/Ocean Morning looks a bit like LiteStep, which is based on AfterSTEP, which is a tribute to NexT''s NextSTEP GUI... and OpenSTEP falls in there somewhere.
Something like that for Linux? Oh, yeah.

I checked out themes.org and while many of the themes on there are quite good (especially since all that I had seen were free), I really did not see any that jumped out at me as "wow I gotta download that one" as opposed to aston. It was worth it enough for me to pay the 28 bucks to register it. Now, there might be some sites out there with comparable material for free, but I have not seen any of them out there.
Well, R2D22U2..
I have to agree with what Nervo said. I've seen many good themes out there (i use KDE with Mosfet's Liquid Style), but none of them had the impact on me that Aston had. Boy, that Aston looks really *beautiful*. And it's not some other aqua-like theme... (i enjoy aqua-likes though, i must admit...).

I agree; Aston and the specific theme do have a spectacular effect that I haven''t seen matched by any free stuff (well, I did see this LiteStep config that really appealed to me with its sparseness), but I don''t think any window manager/theme is worth $28 as a standalone product. For me to even consider it, they need to bundle it with something that''s worth the cost.
