I was wondering what does a game developer do someone suggested it to me. Mostly because im good at programming, graphics, and basically anything game development related is this what a game developer does instead of doing 1 thing they do it all? coder requires 0xf00d before continue().

Game designer or game developer?
If you talk about game developer, anyone that builds the game is a game developer, I think not only the programmers and designers are awarded this title.

I recall from an article from Diana Gruber that she called Lone Wolf a game developer that made a game alone, but probably that term haven''t been in used in ages, or there is a new one now... you know almost always there are teams, except when it comes to indie development...

Job Description of a Game Designer:

This individual is responsible for preparing a detailed plan for the game. The game designer must ensure that the game is fun, and that it meets its objectives and target audience. The game designers primary duty is to develop the Game Design Document, sometimes called a Game Bible.

The game designer must be an experienced writer. The individual must have experience with all manner of games, a strong understanding of past, present, and future industry trends, and an uncanny ability to "see" the final product before it even exists on paper. An understanding of game mechanics is required, and a strong grasp of arithmetic and basic algebraic principles can help in this area. The game designer works directly with the Technical Director, the Art Director, the Producer, and Assistant Designers to ensure that the Design Document and the accompanying schedule is realistic for the team, manageable and efficient for the publisher, and will produce a game that is exciting for players.
