Texturing Suggestions
I'm doing a little bit of landscape texturing for my game, and I need your suggestions on how to make my landscape look a little more polished.
The game is based on mars, and as such, the landscape is somewhat Martian. Mars has been partially terra-formed, so certain parts of the landscape are abundant with water, foliage, trees, and all sorts of ground textures (like grass).
*But* I seem to be having some trouble giving the landscape a Martian feel, but at the same time, blending those Martian elements with earthlike ground tones to create a pleasing hybrid. I don't know where to put red, and where to put earth tones without making it feel out of place.
Heres what I've got so far:

The textures I used are from Nvidia's developers texture package, which I just changed in photoshop to look red.
It would be a great help if you guys could tell me what I need/should fix with the textures, or how I could improve my texture creation style. Don't be afraid to make a suggestion.
Please note: All the textures I use are currently a maximum size of 256x256.
Thanks.

First off, mars is red-orange, not crimson. It also basically doesn't change in color where ever you are located. It doesn't have water, either.
EDIT: Mars doesn't have a blue sky or clouds either.

But your soil is far too red... it needs to have more orange in it.
I''d give the sky a orangish-brown tint too, not to dark since you say the planet has been terraformed, but giving it a slighty rusty tint should make it look more Mars-ish.

Gee... I wonder if by looking up the NASA website I couldnt get... wait ! there you go
OK OK, you are trying to do a terraformed version of Mars, but still, the colour of the ground is there because of the amount of Iron oxyde in it, so stick with it. so the colour you are looking for are orange rust, possibly dark brown red.
Here is another photograph I found by doing some looking up on google :
Now come on man ! The best tip I have for you is to do a bit of research and possibly go out and take some photographs yourself. Gee, you could even try to use the Halflife reddish textures (but make them a tad bit more orange).
For the water, I would avoid something like the blue you got there, try something darker, why not something like a greenish yellow kaki sort of thing ? Or maybe a nice light orange yellow ?
As for the sky, look at the nice pic above, I think that says it all, doesnt it (oh, and that''s the colour I was on about for the water)
