Talking of orcs, is it just me, or am I the only one that has assumed that orcs are based on Vikings?
I''m afraid I don''t see the correlation between orcs and Vikings. The Vikings were great explorers, seamen, and very accomplished in the art of warfare, even if their tactics may have been seen as greedy, barbaric, or even bloodthirsty by their opponents. The Vikings worshipped a pantheon of different gods and had a rich religious culture and background revolving around the gods of Valhalla.
Orcs on the other hand are creatures of pure evil, thriving on death, destruction, and mayhem, with little or no concern for their own, let alone anyone else.

Here''s an advice:
Go to every single day care center you can visit, and tell stories of blaoeutje (or whatever your creature''s name is) to those children, give them impressions that this creature is real...cool...scary....really2 something!
Do that everyday, everytime for the rest of your life.
Current project: A puzzle game.

I think there''s a mattr of folk process... fantasy creatures have to affect the subconscious enough to get mulled over, retold, reinvented, etc.
A new creature or race might have more difficulty surviving nowadays because of copyrights.
