What tools do you use?
I want to become a modder for some games I have. I want to know what kind of tools everyone is using. I also hope to get a long thread. Anyways, do I need more tools:
- GtkRadiant
-Game level Editors
-GMAX
-Bloodshed-Dev C++
-Python

Do you even have any clue what you''re doing, or did you just look for popular names?
The reason I ask is because it seems odd that you are using GMax(which is pretty much useless for hobby game dev), C++ AND Python(which is a little odd, and who uses Python to mod games anyway).

What difference would that make?
Edit: this post should help actually

AP: How is GMax useless for hobby game dev? You attempting to point out that it only saves in *gmax format? There are converters out there that will end up saving it as a *.3ds file or *.x if you look around ...
You don''t need more tools, you need better tools.

To apc who flamed me for my tools:
I am not a pro developer. I do it as a hobby. I do not plan to buy any software over $100 US dollars. Because of this, any of the expensive modelers out out of line, and so is Photoshop. Anyways, I DO plan to upgrade. I''m going to buy Paint Shop Pro 8 AND Milkshape 3d.
To the coward who won''t reveal self:
Then what should I use?
Zern: How do I get the converter?

Correct me if I''m wrong*, but the whole point of gmax is to provide people who want to mod their games with a powerful, free 3D modelling tool. Theoretically, you can only use it with games which have been developed with the gmax plugin, but it''s still far from useless.
*I''m not wrong.
Milkshape3D will export/import to almost every major file format you need (especially game-specific ones).

Okay. This is going kind of off topic. THis has gone from wat tools you use and to tell me what I need, to GMAX vs. The World. Can we please concentrate on giving me some help here, and letting me see your tools list?
Some of you can do this, but others can''t.
