The subject pretty much says it all. I wonder if anyone knows a freeware program, which lets you apply a palette to an 8-bit BMP, and keep the indexes. I need this to make screenshots from my game. /John

Well, if you use any old school painting program, you shoud have great tools for manipulating the palette, as it was a common thing to do.
Nowadays, you *can* manipulate palettes with tools like PHotoshop and Paint Shop pro and probably others, just dont expect too much sophistication...

Could you please tell me about some free "old-school" painting program? I don''t need anything fancy at all, just loading and saving palettes.

Deluxe Paint can possibly be found on some abandonware sites, otherwise you can look for a cool program called GFX originally by Sunset Design, it was discontinued, but is being rewritten for Win32 by Eclipse-game.com
If you are lucky you''ll find a link to it.
In the meantime, I think you can try ProMotion which seems to be pretty cool.
