RPG Item Types
I need to come up with some basic item ''types''. So far I have Weapon, Armour, Sheild and Potion. If their are any other special item types you can think of, please do tell me.
Ammo? (Or at least arrows, depending on the game)
Useless junk that is only there to allow you to solve a quest? (You know what I mean, those pointless things that can''t be used for anythign, but you carry them around because they''re "special quest items" and you usually aren''t even allowed to drop them )
Jewelery (magical rings and stuff). Might be classified as armor though...
Clothes? Depending on the game, again.
Oh, and any chance ýou could come up with something other than potions? There''s nothing more boring than potions of mana or health... Just my opinion, but I''d prefer a good first aid kit, or even some kind of mysterious herbs or something...
---------
Life is like a grapefruit. It''s sort of orangy-yellow and dimpled on the outside, wet and squidgy in the middle. It''s got pips inside, too. Oh, and some people have half a one for breakfast

Well, the game is designed so that players can be as ''free'' as possable. As well as the sections I mentioned, their is a ''useless items'' section. This is for stuff like jewlery and character filler items that just work to improve character.
Cloths fir into armour, they are just armour made of (you guessed it) cloth.
Ammo, I would rather leave out, it can just be in copious amounts in the pocet of all players.
I shiver at useless quest items. Is their anyone who doesn''t just get pissed of at them?
And potions are made f ingredience. Up to recently, these ingredience where just herbs, but I decided to add stuff like ground giants teeth ect.

quote: ShylockEver played Warcraft III? There is actually an item called "cheese." What does it do? None, but it''s just there. Quite dumb, but some people find it funny.

For potions stuff, I have seen in some RPG games where you can just mix unlimited amount of herbs and get random effects (mostly your character would be poisoned or dead). I still don''t know how they did this, but it''s quite fun.
Current project: 2D in Direct3D engine.
% completed: ~20%
First, I always though of armor as a sub set of clothes not the other way around.
Plants. For the potions of course.
Body parts. Especially if your going to have to get ground giants teeth for your potions. Use the unicorn horn in that super-evil spell.
the following items are assuming that you are doing some type of online RPG.
Furniture. You know some place where you can actually sit down and rest.
Hygiene items. Combs, toothbrush, etc. You don''t have to actively use them, but if you don''t have them in your inventory your rating with NPCs slowly goes down due to bad breath, etc. Maybe the hairpin of invisibility. A toothbrush that when held actually gives you a plus reaction with NPCs (who can resist that bright smile).

KarsQ: What do you get if you cross a tsetse fly with a mountain climber?A: Nothing. You can't cross a vector with a scalar.
I''m going to be really descriptive and name every type possible.
Weapons- Axes, bows, crossbows, guns, clubs, maces, flails, warhammers, martial arts weapons, misc weapons (like customized weapons and odd weapons), javelins, slings, spears, staffs, swords.
Armor- Body armor, helmets, rings, leggings, shields.
Items- Battle items (bombs and fire potions), healing items, scenario items, misc items (keys), alchemy ingreadients (for creating potions), and possible stuff for creating your own weapons and armor.
