Seems more and more these days I''m seeing more companies either requiring experience in certain engines or highly suggesting it to get jobs in the game market. Now having your own game totally created by yourself (including the engine) is still better than doing a mod, or is it? Thats my question I post to the community. What do you see as the pluses and minuses of doing a mod vs. creating an entire game yourself. My perspective. I feel that mods help out more in the long run, mostly because your using an engine that is mainstream and is optimized for the exact workflow of most companies in the industry. Also since I''m more an artist than a programmer, mods are easier to show my modeling, texturing, and level design skills. Check out my current mod Copperhead at http://www.planetcopperhead.com Its a Sci-fi based Dungeon Siege mod. Derek Warner Art Institute of Phoenix Video Game Art and design
