I made a neat piano instrument (.xi) in tracker out of my Steinway Piano, and I am having some friends to come over later with a flute, string quartet, french horn, and a picollo. I am also gonna sample my guitars and drumkit. What instruments I make I guess is irrevelant. My question is : Can I use these samples in Cakewalk, so I dont have to go through the tedium of typing in EVERY note in tracker individually? I want to use my keyboard to play them. Secondly: If no, are there any programs out there that do this? (Allow you to use a keyboard with Instruments made from samples) Thanks in advance! -Rhone

Do you have soundfont support on your soundcard? If so, then that might be something you want to pursue. If this isn't doable, then perhaps someone can recommend a software sampler?!

I do have soundfont support ( I have SoundBlaster live)

I understant now what Sound Font is, but I dont know how to create the instrument out of my samples!

I have 2 samples per octave for my Piano, 4 per octave per Horn and Flute, etc.

I dont really know how to configure the instruments.

Do you have Vienna Soundfont Studio installed?

Get it here:

http://www.soundfont.com/downloads2/vienna23.zip
(or try and find it on the soundblaster website)

Vienna allows you to create soundfonts. I found its interface pretty self explanatory, but if you have any questions then fire away!
