My one friend is really hyped about getting in there and I''m a bit skeptical. He''s a geek and all and has a pretty good understanding of programming but has yet to make any game. I mean he doesn''t really know anything about anything, just bits and pieces in various different topics. What are the chances of him getting accepted into Digipen? Here is what he has taken in HS: Visual Basic 1 & 2 C 1 & 2 Computer Applications Advanced HTML Advanced Web Design Here is what he has taken at the local community college: C/C++ C++ MFC He is getting out early next year (senior year) to go to that college again. He will be taking Java 1 & 2 and some more classes. So does that up his chances? -------------------------- Tried to save myself but myself keeps slipping away.

Considering that they don''t have financial aid, I''m betting they''ll take just about anyone than can afford the 50K they want for a degree.

So, yeah, I imagine they''ll take him.

is it that gaming college?
ive seen a documentory about that school, getting in is hard enough, only about 500 people out of 10,000 who apply get in. Staying in is the hard part. I dont care how much u love games, after making then 24/7 u will get real sick of then at some point
I heard only 200 are accepted per year. Anyways it dosnt matter its expensive as hell.

I wish i could make games 24/7. I wouldnt ever get sick of it. I barely have enough time anymore though.
I''m gonna try and go to Full Sail. Their tuition is like $35K though and they''re in Florida whereas I am in PA.

My guess is that C++ knowledge, grades, and having a demo would be the things that get you in.

And, uh, getting sick of making games is like getting sick of having a head. (for me anyway)

Just so you all know there are some other options for going to a gaming college.

The University of Advancing Technology is considered second best only to DigiPen and they do more than just games. Check them out at: www.uat.edu
Just be prepared if you do apply to Digipen to work harder than you''ve ever worked before. It is not like a normal college atmosphere, where you have a fair amount of free time. Each student team is required to complete a game a semester, and as you can imagine, that is no easy task. A student I knew estimated a 50%-75% dropout rate for his class by the time graduation rolled around.

One graduating senior told me that the parties with Digipen students are really just places to drink heavily to forget just how much work you have left to do before your game is due.

That same student, however, got to work with propitery Nintendo 64 game development technology and for his final project, he and his team developed a N64 fighting game.

If you complete Digipen''s program, you will have little difficulty in finding a job. As I understand it, most students are actually recruited before they even get their degree.
