Ok, the demo''s were awsome. Well, at least when I ran them on my Radeon 9700 system. But when I ran them on my work computer, which is a P4 2GHZ running a TNT2 64 (hey it''s to code on, not play demos ). Anyways, the demo''s, if they ran at all, were choppy to the point I couldnt stand it. Now, I know that no one in their right mind runs a TNT2 anymore except for me on my work station, but my point is that most people dont stop to think that just because they have $900 video card, that everyone else may not have the same thing. Some will have better and some will have less. I think that on this site, the idea is everyone will have a nice video card and that may be correct, but what about when you want to release your demo or your game to the public? Just Something to keep in mind. Not everyone that wants to see your work will have a kick ass system to run it on. That''s my 2 cents. BTW: The demo''s were very well done. AFAIK NeHe is on a TNT2.

You''d be surprised how many people don''t have flashy new cards.

You can pick up a GeForce 3 for like $75 if you shop around. Or a GeForce 2 for about $45. There''s plenty of room for upgrading between a TNT2 and a 9700.

Anyway, for games most companies try to keep the requirements as low as possible because they dont want to lose sales by limiting their market..but for demos, who cares? Code for the best hardware if you want when it comes to demos.

And keep in mind that if you want to look at eyecandy like bumpmapping, real time shadows, etc, its going to be slow on a TNT2, period. The card just doesn''t have the horsepower to do that fast, no matter how well the program is written...

I'm no more obligated to code for an old system than I am for a new system. You want to see my work? That's too bad for you. Obviously it's not targetted at you if you don't have the system for it.
People make decisions about these things. If it's a hard to run demo, it's not meant for old systems. That's it.

I find that hard to believe sometimes.
More like: how to conceal lack of creativity by using advanced hardware options.

is also reverse thinking.
Well if you like to jerk off on your own stuff, maybe it''s true.
(I wonder if you dare say that in a job interview).
Did my demo really run that bad Im sorry i didnt code properly, im sorry i ruined your day, im sorry i was born, im sorry the world trade centers blew up, im sorry that there is world hunger, im sorry about global warming, im sorry that the earth is round, im sorry there is no air in space. Im sorry for a lot of things. How did i mess up that bad? Do you know where i can find a tall bridge...preferabely with no water below it? Im sorry i cant even find a good bridge to commit suicide.

I programmed the fish demo (Pescao Loco)...it probably ran slow because i suck at programming and my life sucks...but it should have run...i used no card specific functions.

P.S. Im sorry i used so many ... things

... which is a decision to forfeit creativity for advanced hardware options. A lack of creativity != stupid.

Oh wow. I never realized I was here for a job interview. Do you have secret cameras or something? This is great! I didn''t even have to dress up!

It''s a demo. Cry me a river. And while you''re at it, try putting your name on your posts too.

AP : Back off! Most demos were created in a rush so there are bugs, there is stuff thet doesn''t work. so what? enjoy what it does! As for extension. It''s a demo contest. You don''t expect everyone to be writing multiple paths for diferent extension over all platforms do you? And get a freeking account. posting as an AP...
