You don''t expect everyone to be writing multiple paths for diferent extension over all platforms do you?
But you _did_ write an ARB path for extensions where you used NV paths before. So it is possible

At NeHe Productions I''ve always heard that NeHe himself didn''t want to teach tutorials with vendor-specific extensions. Even though I agree it''s a bit hard to take that in account for a "rushed" demo, it''s still a good thing to keep it in mind. I''m sure ppl visiting the site/board think the demos written here look like how programs are written in professional companies. I don''t say that demos *must* be written vendor-indenpendant because of newbie visitors, I just say that titan2782 made a nice remark. As he says himself, that''s "Just Something to keep in mind".
Wow, alot of replies. My intention was to point out that defining a lowest common denominator should be a priority. I''m not putting anyone down. I know the limites of this TNT2 card. I know the limits of my 9700 card.
No need to get mad. BTW: I never saw the fish tank demo.

I''ve seen about 50% of the demos and they were great. Some were ok, some were almost excellent (still leaving room for development there
). I was wondering about the musical part, though - everyone seems to be using some mod format for music playback. Where did everyone get this music - do people massively use trackers and stuff or do they know people who are willing to lend them their masterpieces?
PS - not having seen all of the demos I can''t be 100% objective, but so far my vote for the best demo goes to Mirko. Those fractals look simply amazing and so does the credits scene where the two cyan banners at the top and the bottom of the screen (motion) blur the object. Just to keep your ego on the ground (

.the .product is beyond my realm of understainding. Anyhow - I bet most people don''t know yet another 64kB demo was released by the same team in 2002 that IMO totally blows .the .product away. Run poemtoahorse and you''ll find yourself looking down on yourself from a very high-flying cloud. My mighty project is getting off the ground slowly (though it poses nothing as complex as this) and it''s @ 5 megs now (including resources). Too bad it takes at least a 1GHz CPU and a decent GPU (poemtoahorse lagged slightly on my TNT2) to run these things - otherwise playing palm games would hould so much pleasure.
PS - if you open the link and you discover that you have seen neither of the two - download and run the left one first!

I ran the demo's on a TNT2 64 and they all ran fine!
There was only one demo which came up with messages at the beginning stating my gfx card didn't support all the effects used.
Oh and there was one which didn't work at all, can't remember which.
