How do i get screen coords of a 3d object??

i am using d3dim and i''m havin problems in finding the 2d coords of an object in 3d space (or how the heck do i do object picking?????) I have searched the samples but in vain. pls help!!

i am making a 3D Real-time strategy game.

iam having problems in getting the screen coordinates of a 3d object. the game should support viewing the units from any angle. is there any help on the net. if so pls give me the URL. i could not find much help in DX7SDK help or the samples

Since this is your ORIGINAL post, I guess i could help you out a little (by refering you to a site).

Relic Software created a RTS (you might of heard of it) called Homeworld. It was a 3D RTS that allowed you to select ships from 3D space. My suggestion is you go to www.relic.com and maybe e-mail a programmer or the company and try to get some info. I''m pretty sure they might of used DirectX or OpenGL. Same mathematical concept though, im pretty sure.
